Solid waste and recycling
Collection schedule
The City provides weekly curbside trash and recycling collection. Check your collection day using the address lookup tool on the City website. Place carts at the curb by 6 AM on your scheduled day with lids fully closed.
Recycling
Janesville uses single-stream recycling. Accepted materials include paper, flattened cardboard, plastic bottles and containers (#1 and #2), glass bottles and jars, and metal cans. Do not include plastic bags, styrofoam, food waste, or electronics.
Yard waste
Yard waste collection runs from April through November. Use 30-gallon paper bags or containers clearly labeled 'Yard Waste.' Brush must be bundled and under 4 feet long.
Leaf collection
Free curbside leaf collection operates from mid-October through late November on a rotating neighborhood schedule. Rake leaves to the curb, not into the street. The schedule is published on the City website.
Rock County Landfill
The Rock County Landfill accepts items that cannot be collected curbside, including construction debris, appliances, and electronics. Contact the landfill for hours, fees, and accepted materials.
