Department leadership

The Janesville Police Department is led by the Chief of Police, who oversees approximately 130 sworn officers and civilian staff. The department is organized into Patrol, Investigations, and Community Services divisions.

Patrol division

Patrol is the largest division, providing 24/7 response to calls for service across the city. Officers are assigned to geographic districts to build familiarity with the neighborhoods they serve.

Investigations division

Detectives handle criminal investigations including violent crime, property crime, financial crime, narcotics, and special victims cases.
